The United States and International Law
Yes, MAGA, it’s real.
June 25, 2026
Republican MAGAts claim that Donald Trump has unlimited global relations powers because international law doesn’t exist.
As usual, they’re wrong. The United States Constitution refers to it four times. Most of them know they’re lying.
The rest are just stupid lemmings.
Nevertheless, MAGA’s hero declared that he has the right to invade countries, kidnap their leaders, control international immigration, desecrate human rights, and blow up boats whenever he feels like it, all in direct violation of his own oath and international law.
Several months ago, comedian Seth Meyers presented a segment on his Late Night TV show in which he excoriated MAGA Republicans who claim that international law doesn’t exist. You can watch it at the YouTube link below.
THE US CONSTITUTION
Treaties create international law. We have plenty of treaties.
Article VI. Section 2
“This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”
Article I. Section 8. Clause 10
“The Congress shall have Power … To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;”
Article II. Section 2. Clause 2: Powers of the President
“He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties….”
Article III. Section 2: The Supreme Court
“The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority….”
All government employees must swear an oath, upon their employment, to uphold every tenet of our Constitution:
Article VI. Section 3
“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution….”
That applies to legislators and their staffs, law enforcement, military and school board members, public school teachers, maintenance personnel, and all employees at every level and segment of our governments.
Yep. Including Trump, Marco Rubio, Stephen Miller, and the rest.
UNITED NATIONS
After World War II, representatives from 51 nations gathered in San Francisco
to create a cooperative world body.
Today, 193 nations belong to the United Nations.
According to the UN Charter:
“The Purposes of the United Nations are:
To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace;”
INTERNATIONAL LAW
defines the legal responsibilities of States in their conduct with each other, and their treatment of individuals within State boundaries.
International law's domain encompasses a wide range of issues of international concern, such as human rights, disarmament, international crime, refugees, migration, problems of nationality, the treatment of prisoners, the use of force, and the conduct of war, among others.
International law also regulates the global commons, such as the environment and sustainable development, international waters, outer space, global communications, and world trade.
INTERNATIONAL COURTS
The UN has created two courts, several tribunals, and other methods of enforcing
its primary objective.
They include the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court,
located at The Hague, in The Netherlands.
Summaries of their work are listed at the link below.
POLITICAL IGNORANCE
So. Our constitution says that all treaties are US law, including those created apart from the UN.
The US signed and ratified the UN treaty. Our government officials are required to honor those treaties.
Therefore, the United States of America recognizes international law.
Whether they like it or not.
But few Americans know this because those who control our schools don’t WANT us to know it.
Knowledge is power. And they don’t want you to have any.
They certainly don’t want you to DO anything about it.
