Resist - Insist - Persist - Repeat

#USA.  It’s Up to Us
The whole world is watching.
February 6, 2026

While our federal government  employees ardently violate public civil rights, millions of Americans protest evil where it lives – all over America.  Activists stumble around, resisting as best they can, without plan or direction, while Kristy Noem’s ICE assaults and murders innocent people in our streets.

Donald Trump’s idiocy and arrogance have awakened America’s resistance spirit.

Millions of people don't know what to do with their anger and resentment.  Perhaps this will  help.

SOCIAL MOVEMENTS
Throughout history, social justice movements all over the world have protected lives.  The issues ebb and flow.

Time and topics overlap.  Our work is never done.  There were:

  • Abolition of Slavery
  • Women’s Suffrage
  • The Labor Movement
  • Peace
  • Civil rights
  • Human Rights
  • LGBTQIA
  • Voting Rights
  • Free Speech
  • The Later Women’s Movement
  • Reproductive Rights
  • South African Apartheid
  • Occupy Wall Street
  • Arab Spring
  • Democracy
  • Me Too
  • And more.

In the first half of the 20th century, Mahatma Ghandi changed India’s course simply by using the means available – his people’s great drive for change.  He led them to disrupt Indian society thoroughly, while demanding that their methods remain peaceful.  Thus, peaceful nonviolent resistance was born.

Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela modeled their work on Ghandi’s success.  And others followed.
Those early resisters learned from trial and error and experience.
We can use their experience and wisdom to fight this current evil.

WHAT DO WE WANT?
We want JUSTICE.
And we want it now.

The United States Constitution requires that every person who is employed by any department or agency at any level of government must swear an oath to uphold our constitution.   The president.  The Vice President.  The Cabinet.  Members of Congress.  Judges and court employees.  Agency staff.  Military members.  Postal employees.  School teachers.  Local town council members.  School board members.  Maintenance employees.  And all the rest.

Ask anyone you know who has ever worked for any government agency.  But most of them are too lazy to READ it.
Few Americans know what the constitution is, does, or says because we allow our schools to suck.

All government employees, at all levels, must:

  • Acknowledge all humanity.
  • Respect the rights of EVERY PERSON in this country:

Due process, birthright citizenship, and the Bill of Rights apply to every person in the United States, whether we like                them, agree with them, or not.

  • Stop beating and killing people for their own entertainment.
  • Apologize.  Yes, really.
  • Abide by the law.  It really is that simple.

Our schools must teach civics.  Thoroughly and properly.
The January 6 riots happened because a thousand people descended on Washington DC, determined to stop a process that doesn’t exist.  And they’re still at it.

If you want peace, work for justice.

ENCOURAGEMENT
We’re Americans.  We can do this.  We’ve done it many times.
Our movement won’t have a single leader.  We’re not competing.  We’re cooperating.
We have some differences.  We can deal with them.  But we MUST keep our eyes on the prize.

Don’t worry if you’ve never attended a protest.  I’ve participated in countless.  You’re surrounded by friends.

We all place ourselves in danger to one degree or another when we stand up.
But we place our children and grandchildren in even greater danger when we do not.

Yes, it does affect you.  And it should matter to you.  As former US House Speaker Tip O’Neill (D-MA) said “All politics is local.”

HOW TO DO IT
We get what we want by using a simple process expressed by a single word.  Lobbying.
Lobbying is not what the media says it is.  Lobbying doesn’t cost a dime.

Lobbying is the act of telling our elected representatives what we want.  And expecting them to deliver.

  • MAKE NOISE
  • Contact every one of your elected representatives.
  • Use every means available – letters, phone calls, post cards, website messages,
  • Tell them what you want.
  • Even if they’re on our side, thank them and encourage them.
  • Express your views publicly.
  • Wear T-shirts, buttons, hats, etc.
  • Post yard signs.
  • Attend protest demonstrations.
  • Find and join social media groups and organizations.
  • They’re great moral support and will keep you updated on events.
  • Donate money if you can.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out — because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out — because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out — because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.

The group Indivisible will sponsor the fourth No Kings rally on March 28 in thousands of locations across the United States.  Find yours.  Their contact info is in the list below.

Let’s all do the famous "USA.USA. USA." chant at every one of these rallies.
The whole world is watching.  Let them see that.

We do this because seeing one person stand up for what is right
lets others know they are not alone and they stand up as well.

No single act will fix what Donald Trump broke.

But together, we are powerful.

We know what we want.
Now go get it.
